Giovanni Francesco Venturini Hand Colored Engraving "Fontana detta della Regina..."

A restrike hand colored etching after a circa 1684 original, titled Fontana detta della Regina nel giardino del signor principe Pamphilio à San Pancratio (Fountain Known as the Fountain of the Queen in the Garden of Prince Pamphilli at St. Pancrazio), by Giovanni Francesco Venturini (1650-1710). It depicts revelers around the baroque Italian fountain within the formal gardens of the current Villa Doria Pamphili. Underneath the image and the printed title, reads Architettura del Caualiere Alessandro Algardi (Architecture by Sir Alessandro Algardi). This was originally created as plate twenty-one of the four volume le Fontane di Roma (1660-1675), an architectural study by Venturini and Giovanni Battista Falda. This print is presented behind glass, in an antique frame.
Condition
- chipping and overall wear to the frame; minor discoloration to the print.
