"Old Staffordshire" Spaniel and Seated Girl Figurines
Item Details
A pair of Staffordshire fired clay figurines. This coordinating pair each feature a standing spaniel, in the traditional style of the Staffordshire region, with the small figure of a girl seated upon them. They are each standing upon a grassy mound, with a feathered summer hat resting below. Both are marked underneath, in a red bordered shield, ‘Old Staffordshire Ware England’, with a shape number of ‘A182’. They both have a small firing hole on the back, and a round slip hole at the base. Although they are of a traditional Staffordshire style, they do not bear evidence of being pressed molded, and are most likely 20th century slip cast reproductions.
Condition
- extant sticker residue underneath both; the girl with the pink top has an extant broken left leg
Dimensions
