A vintage book collection of poetry, prose and management advice titles. Edgar Allan Poe: Representative Selections…Notes is the Alterton and Craig edition. It is marked on the title page ‘AWS – American Book Company – New York, Cincinnati, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta’ and was copyrighted in 1935. ‘AWS’ stands for ‘American Writers Series’. Management titles include Thomas F. Barnhart’s Weekly Newspaper Management (1936) and Otto Kleppner’s Advertising Procedure (1942). Two novels in the set are Hervey Allen’s Toward The Morning (1948) and Taylor Caldwell’s This Side Of Innocence (1946). The story collection titles are A Treasury Of The Familiar (1945) and Bedside Book Of Famous French Stories (1945). The publishers of these books include Appleton-Century, Prentice-Hall, Rinehart & Company, Macmillan, Charles Scribner’s Sons, and Random House.
