The Open Mind, published in 1955, is a first edition copy of the book by Oppenheimer, who was one of the physicists on the Manhattan Project, which developed the atomic bomb. Thomas Merton’s The Sign of Jonas, published in 1953, is assumed to be a first edition; there are no later editions listed on copyright page. Merton is best known for his writing on spirituality and mysticism. Both books come with dust jackets.
