Emily B. Waite Oil Painting on Canvas of Dalias in a Vase

Item Details

An oil on canvas depicting dahlias in a vase by Emily Burling Waite (American, 1887 – 1980). The bright fuschia toned blossoms are placed in a bulbous metallic and set on a draped surface. The canvas is signed to the lower left ‘EMILY BURLING WAITE’ in red with a graphite signature to the verso ‘Emily Burling Waite – Manchester’ and housed in a gold-tone beaded wood frame. From 1921 until 1931 Waite was married to Arthur Williams Manchester of Newport, Rhode Island. She retained the title ‘Mrs. Manchester’ throughout her life though was professionally known by her maiden name.
