A c. 1937 original signed charcoal drawing of horses by listed artist Edmund Blampied (English, 1886-1966). The energetic drawing depicts a white horse, with its head lowered and rear left leg lifted, to the foreground, with a dark horse to the background. The drawing is signed in charcoal to the center, along with date. The drawing is displayed under glass in a light cream matte with black edges and dark wood frame.
Edmund Blampied was born in the Channel Islands and began his artistic studies at the age of 16, working in the fields of etching and drypoint. He branched out into oil, watercolor painting, drypoint, illustration, silhouettes and bronze.
