A pastel on paper portrait of a gentleman by Emily Burling Waite (American, 1887 – 1980). The portrait depicts a brown haired gentleman of the first quarter of the 20th century in a purple-black notched collar coat wearing a bow tie with a jeweled pin. The plate is signed ‘Emily Burling Waite’ to the lower left in graphite with a date of 1919.
