An original signed Sumi ink painting of a horse by listed artist Pietro Lazzari (Italian American, 1895-1979). An energetic and expressive Sumi ink painting of a prancing steed, the piece is executed in broad, quick brushstrokes of transparent ink, with a delicate mastery of the legs and head. The work is signed in ink to the upper left and displayed under glass in double mattes in light cream and red orange and a black faux bamboo frame with red orange inner filet. The painting is wired to the back.
Pietro Lazzari received his art training at the Ornamental School of Rome and joined the Italian Futurist Movement after the close of WWI. He is known as both a painter and a sculptor.
