Item Details

An original Japanese ukiyo-e print by artist Toyohara Kunichika (豊原国周, 1835-1900). This print depicts two men as Kabuki actors, in elaborate, colorful costumes. To the upper left, red cartouches with the actors’ names are accompanied yellow cartouches that display their roles. To the far left, a white cartouche features the signature of the artist, ‘Toyohara Kunichika hitsu’ (豊原国周筆), with a small, three-character cartouche representing the blockcutter, Horikō Hei’s (彫工平) seal.
