Offset Lithograph After Maud Earl's "Golden Retriever (Serving the Guns)"

Item Details

An offset lithograph after Maud Earl’s Golden Retriever (Serving the Guns). This print after Earl’s 1902 painting presents a closely cropped image of a standing golden retriever next to a pile of pheasants. Behind the dog is an expansive cloudy sky and an open field. The print is signed as part of the plate in the bottom left corner of the image. The artist, Maud Earl (1864-1943) was a court painter to Buckingham Palace, and painted for royals such as Queen Victoria and Queen Alexandra. She is well known for her animal paintings and was trained by her father George Earl, a sportsman and naturalist painter before enrolling at the Royal Female School of Art. The print is housed in a cherry stained wooden frame with a dark green mat, under glass. A label attached to the backing paper reads ‘Golden Retriever (Serving the Guns_ by Maud Earl (English 1870-1943).’
