Hitchcock-Style Stenciled Antique Chair
Item Details
A Hitchcock-style antique chair. The chair dates to the nineteenth century, and is made of painted wood. The chair back uprights are rounded where they join the seat, and are shaved along the front as they curve up toward to the tops. The top rail is stenciled with a pineapple and peaches, along with leaves. There are gold decorations along the fronts of the uprights, and the spindles are decorated with gold banding. The legs are round, and taper inward toward the seat, and at the bottoms. The seat is made of thick, solid wood and is contoured, with a waterfall edge at the front. No maker’s marks.
