Eduard Magnus and Erich Correns Offset Lithographs Portraits of Women

Item Details

A set of two offset lithographs after original paintings. One is after an 1862 portrait titled Jenny Lind by Eduard Magnus (1799-1872). This features the seated red-headed wopera singer with her hands resting in her lap. She turns her head and looks off to the upper left, revealing a three-quarter view of her face. She has flowers in her hair and wears an off-white Victorian-style dress with a Bertha neckline. The portrait displays a view of her head down to her knees. The other work is after a circa 1850 painting titled Southern Belle by Erich Correns (1821-1877) It is a half-body portrait featuring a standing dark-haired woman with her hands folded and hanging in front of her. Facing toward the right, she turns her head toward the viewer, revealing a three-quarter view of her face. She wears an off-white Victorian-style dress with flower embellishments on the bust and pagoda sleeves. She stands in front of an ornate interior with a red curtain hanging in the left background. Both works are displayed under glass, in matching wood oval frames carved with floral embellishments and a gold-tone inner border. They are ready to hang with picture wire to the verso.
