A plaster sculpture of a Union soldier leaning on his rifle and smoking a pipe. According to the accompanying picture’s description, this soldier depicts John Rawlins (1831-1869), a Union army officer and general during the Civil War, who later served as Secretary of War under President Ulysses S. Grant. This figurine is made from plaster and painted black with distressed details. It has a wood bottom which is unmarked.

Condition

- to poor. Cracked at the base in a few spots. Cracked where the figurine meets the base, near the foot.
