Charley Harper Signed Ford Times Serigraph "Song Sparrow"
Item Details
An original serigraph by beloved Cincinnati artist Charley Harper (American, 1922-2007). Charley Harper was a Cincinnati-based American Modernist artist. He was best known for his highly stylized wildlife prints, posters and book illustrations. In a style he called “minimal realism”, Charley Harper captures the essence of his subjects with the fewest possible visual elements. This print, printed in 1954, is titled Song Sparrow and was part of the series the artist was commissioned to do by the Ford Motor Company, The Ford Times Series. Prints of the series are perhaps the most highly sought after by collectors. In this print the artist has depicted a sparrow with its head tilted back in dramatic song. The print is signed in pencil to the lower right, along with a signature to the print. The print is presented in a modern silver metal frame with a single off-white mat to edge.
