Crayon

An original mixed media drawing with acrylic paint and crayon on paper by well-listed Cuban artist Gina Pellón (Cuba/France, 1926 – 2014), circa 1970. This untitled image depicts a child-like, abstract expressionist rendering of a fantastical bus full of passengers whose faces are obliterated by the energetic layers of crayon. The space surrounding the busily marked bus is mostly solid black with very thin, colored contour lines. Artist signature is signed in pencil to the lower right. The drawing is mounted behind cream mat, under glass in a simple wood frame with a gilt finish. To the verso, a Gallery K label of Washington, D.C. is attached.

Condition

- frame is worn along edges and corners. Mitered corners of frame are slightly separating.
