A signed artist’s proof colored lithograph circa 1965, by renowned Chinese-French painter Zao Wou-Ki (趙無極, 1920-2013), who is best known for merging Western and Eastern artistic traditions within his work. Drawn to abstraction and impressionism, Wou-Ki’s dramatic and boldly colored pieces express energy and movement. This beautiful expressionist style piece features an abstract design in shades of red, orange, and black. This piece is pencil signed and dated by the artist in the lower right margin and is marked, ‘epreuve d’artiste’ in the lower left margin, which means ‘artist proof’. The print has a single white mat and is housed behind plexiglass in a simple metal frame with a wire for hanging to the verso.
