Hiroyuki Tajima "Red Mansion" Signed Limited Edition Woodcut Print

A signed limited edition woodcut print titled, Red Mansion circa 1973, by Japanese printmaker from the Sōsaku-Hanga School, Hiroyuki Tajima (田嶋 宏行, 1911–1984). Tajima is known for his abstract woodblock prints that feature luminous colors, bold compositions, and a strong sense of balance inspired by his Zen Buddhist beliefs. This print depicts several tall, red rectangular shapes, both wide and thin, that appear to be layered upon one another and then displayed on a black background. This piece has been pencil signed and dated by the artist in the lower right margin, with the edition number ‘50-19’ written in the center, and the title in the lower left margin. The print has a single white mat and is housed behind plexiglass in a simple metal frame with a wire for hanging to the verso.
