A marble carved statue Young Michelangelo after Emilio Zocchi (Italian, 1835 – 1913). Inscribed ‘Michelangiolo’ on the base this statue depicts a young Michelangelo with mallet in his hand, thought to be sculpting a head of a satyr or a grotesque mask. Imported from Italy, it is a variant of a model by the sculptor Emilio Zocchi, which stands in the Palazzo Pitti. It includes a signature along the back, thought to be C. D’lVanta, Firenze 1878.
