An antique oak high chair. Manufactured by Smith, Day & Co., this chair features a mellowed light walnut finish, with spiral rod back and side paneling, woven wicker seating and meal table attachment. The company was established in the early 1800s in Massachusetts, and opened their Indianapolis office and warehouse in 1891 at 513, 515, and 517 East Washington Street. The firm manufactured all kinds of rockers, dining rooms, and children’s chairs. The maker’s label is present to the underside of the foot rest.
