An Ashford traditional spinning wheel marked ‘Ashford Made in New Zealand’. The wheel is made from indigenous Silver Beech timber from Forestry Stewardship Council-approved mills. It has turning spindles and one bobbin with thread. The company began production of spinning wheels in the 1940s and made them popular worldwide through a mail order business that allowed the buyer to assemble when received.
