Paul Ashbrook Original Oil on Board "San Miguel de Allende"

An original oil painting on board by listed Cincinnati artist Paul Ashbrook (1867-1949) titled San Miguel de Allende. This painting depicts a woman with both hands full as she walks beneath an archway in a shadowed alley. A staircase to the left of the piece draws the eye upward, where the viewer sees a line of clothing, set out to dry. Signed in paint to lower right, this work is presented in a wood frame with interior linen border. Hanging wire present to verso.
Ashbrook moved to Cincinnati in 1900 and began taking classes under the legendary Frank Duveneck at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. He eventually became an instructor at the Academy, a position he held from 1914 to 1919. Please see link below for more information about the artist.
