Vintage Hand Made Tobacco Basket
Item Details
A vintage handmade white oak tobacco basket. The large flat open lattice weave basket was used for handling hands of dried tobacco in the warehouses prior to sale. Producers have switched to mechanical baling machines so tobacco baskets are now a piece of agricultural history. Basket rim is stenciled ‘G.L.F. Murray, KY’ and ‘2516’ and retains traces of yellow, black, and gray paint.
