An antique handmade Sarouk area rug. This rug features a vibrant red ground adorned with a floral and foliate pattern in shades of red, orange, golden, teal, turquoise, and navy. The rug also features a compound border with elaborate foliate and floral patterns in a similar palette. An outer border of red surrounds the rug, and two ends terminate in white wool warp fringe. The rug is marked ‘100% wool pile hand woven in Iran’ on the verso.
