An original turn-of-the-century oil painting on canvas by well-listed French landscape painter Theodore Levigne (1848 – 1912), signed in paint to the lower right. This masterful piece depicts a fine rendition of a woman milking a cow in a humble barn. The painting is created in muted tones painted with thoughtful brushstrokes, wonderfully capturing the simplicity of country life. The painting is presented in a stunning wooden frame with carved Art Nouveau embellishments. It has a matte bronze tone finish and a hanging wire is attached to the verso. Condition
- a .5" rip near right center edge has been patched and inpainted. A few extremely faint paint chips to painting’s surface, consistent with age. A few small chips to frame.
