A vintage Detecto No. 4 balance scale. This metal balance scale has two flat weighing pans and a notched ounce beam with a sliding weight, marked from 0 to 16 ounces in one-fourth-ounce increments. The base of the scale is marked ‘No. 4, Cap. 16 lbs. or 8 kg,’ ‘Detecto Scales,’ and ‘New York, N.Y., U.S.A.’
