An original oil painting on canvas by Hungarian artist Petheő A. László. This large work depicts a lovely scene with massive mountains forming the backdrop for a small, calm inlet of water. Three figures are seen to lower left boarding small canoes to go out onto the open water, while a beautiful cottage rests on a small cliff to the right of the work. An expanse of forest trees rest behind the house, which is decorated with blooming spring flowers. Signed in paint to lower right, this work also has a dedication plaque affixed to the front of the frame that reads ‘Presented to Jack Stevens – From Office Girls Salesmen and Managers of Superior Motor Co. – July 1 1953’. Presented in a gilt, cast gesso frame with seamless corners and hanging wire to verso.
Condition
- accretion present to surface of painting. Cracks present to corners and lower center portion of frame.
