Han Tomb Rubbing from China

A colored Han Dynasty tomb rubbing from China. The piece features two vignettes inside of a partitioned square border. The top depicts people gathering around a structure to listen or pay homage to man therein. A cat and an owl appear on the top of the building. The bottom piece is bisected by a tree; the left side depicts a similar structure under which sits a single individual attended by a person sitting to his right; to the right, an attendant sits near a person lying on their back. A phoenix and a demon appear in the scene. The piece is comprised of ink on rice paper set in a black wooden frame behind glass.
