Louis Jambor Oil on Canvas Two Peasant Women
Item Details
An oil on canvas of two peasant women by well-listed artist Louis Jambor (1884-1955). In this genre scene, two anonymous figures monumentally dominate the foreground. The artist portrays the women harvesting in the fields with impressionistic brushstrokes and layered impasto. Jambor was a Hungarian-born American artist who painted a variety of subjects, including religious work, portraiture, genre scenes, still lifes, and murals for private homes. The painting is signed in the lower left, but the signature is hidden by the frame. Displayed in a painted wood frame with large corner carvings, the work is ready to hang with picture wire to the verso.
