This is a pair of comfortable butterfly chairs with 2 sets of canvas covers. One set is and off-white color (pictured) and one set is a dark green. They are made of a cast metal and do not fold down. Wonderful on a porch or poolside.
THE STORY: The BKF is a chair of metal and leather created in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Argentines and has become the symbol of the Argentine national design in the world. Globally referred to as the “Butterfly” chair, the BKF chair is the Icon of Modern Design. It was developed in 1938, by Argentine architect and designer Jorge Ferrari Hardoy while working at the Parisian studio of Le Corbusier, en Buenos Aires. After Hardoy designed the chair, he presented his design to his co-workers at Le Corbusier- Antonio Bonet and Juan Kurchan and the three together finalized the details of the chair and named it after the initials of their last names. In 1940, the three designers presented their chair at the 3rd Salon de Artistas Decoradores expo. From there on out, the chair has been on exhibition in the MoMA and many other top museums in the world.
