Gathering of Decorative Ceramic Plates
Item Details
A collection of three decorative ceramic plates. This grouping includes a plate with a wide rim in dark red with 22K gold trim arabesques and festoons that become pendants hanging from the rim into the white of the tondo. The tondo of the plate has a transfer print image of a courting scene. The plate with the blue rim has a way edge gold tone trim on both borders and gold toned transfer print florals and scrolls creating windows that are filled with a pink rosette with green leaves. This plate is marked ‘Theodore Haviland Limoges France’. The way edge plate with the wide border of dark ink blue has a transfer print image in the center marked ‘Madame Elisabeth’ and ‘Montero’. It is likely a portrait of Princess Elizabeth, the youngest sister of King Louis XVI of France.
