A signed limited edition screen print titled Japanese Screen c.1996 by Irish contemporary artist and painter Sir Michael Craig-Martin (b.1941). As one of the pioneers of British conceptual art, Craig-Martin is best known for his exploration of everyday objects, minimalism, and vibrant colors. Craig-Martin’s work has been exhibited at numerous esteemed institutions and museums including the Centre Pompidou Paris, MoMA New York, and most recently a retrospective held at the Serpentine Gallery in London. On a vibrant blue ground, Japanese Screen features five everyday objects including a pair of shoes, table, hand truck, lightbulb, and book. The print is pencil signed by the artist in the lower right margin and is numbered 40 out of an edition of 45, which is written in the lower left. The print has a single white mat and is housed behind plexiglass in a simple metal frame with a wire for hanging to the verso.
