WWII M44 Wool Field "Eisenhower" Jacket
Item Details
A WWII M44 wool field ‘Eisenhower’ jacket. The jacket features a notched collar, shoulder epaulets, two breast patch pockets, a hidden button placket, and waist adjustments to the sides. The jacket likely belonged to a tech corporal, T/5, in a mechanized cavalry unit as part of the 13th Armored Division, known as the ‘Black Cats’. Included are the attached rank patches to the sleeves, a Port of Embarkation patch to the left sleeve and division patch to the right, a brass cavalry collar disk with crossed sabers, and an Honorable Discharge lapel patch, known as the ‘Ruptured Duck’. The 13th Armored Division arrived in Europe on April 10th, 1945, and was sent home July 14th, 1945. This style was named after General Dwight D. Eisenhower, who requested a waist-length jacket, and was made standard issue in November 1944.
