Tom Lohre Melted Oil Pastel Painting "Holidays on Ludlow IV"

Item Details

An original 2015 melted oil pastel painting on aluminum by contemporary Cincinnati artist and inventor Tom Lohre, titled, Holidays on Ludlow IV. The image depicts an abstracted interpretation of a horse-drawn carriage rolling along a street scene, backed by a deep blue sky. Artist signature is hand-signed in red to the lower right. The painting is mounted in a wooden frame with ornate cast embellishments, seamless corners, cream lining, a gold tone fillet, and antiqued gilt finish. Extensive additional information about the artist and the piece is attached to the verso, along with a hanging wire. Lohre’s “blob” paintings are created by melting 175 carefully selected colors of oil pastels onto a heated aluminum surface; their execution guided by a pixelated photograph in a manner similar to that which is carried out by the painting machine invented by Lohre using Lego’s Mindstorm Invention System in 2003. This method of painting claims to make the most of the least. Lohre attests to be the first to have ever painted a spaceship from life; he also painted the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens from life. More information about the artist can be found at his website, located below under Additional Information.
