An original 1969 oil painting on canvas by well-listed contemporary Indonesian painter Abas Alibasyah (born 1928). The painting depicts a bright abstracted depiction of the moon created in vibrant shades of yellow, green, blue, and purple. The moon is set against a yellow background framed by geometric shapes painted with similar bright colors and deep black accents. The painting is created with heavy impasto. It is signed and dated to the lower right and presented in a natural-stained wooden frame with a hanging wire. Alibasyah is passionate about the promotion of arts education in Indonesia and was at one time the Director of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Yogyakarta.
