Vintage Handwoven Persian Carpet Runner

Item Details

A vintage Persian carpet runner from the Caucasus featuring a large medallion and figural bird motif. The rug features five hooked medallions down the center of the a deep indigo blue field in a palette of bright red, pink, blue and cream. Each medallion features a variety of different designs and shapes. The field is ornately covered in figural chickens, peacocks, floral and symbolic forms in the same bright colors. The rug has an unresolved double border, with the main border in cream and the guard border in red, both being decorated in a floral and geometric pattern. It has a short cotton warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.

Condition

Fair to good. Rug has wearing; The fringe has been cut at both ends.
