A sterling silver flatware set by Wallace Silversmiths (established as R. Wallace & Sons Manufacturing Co. in 1871, Wallingford, CT). This fifty-six piece set in is Wallace’s Grande Baroque pattern, designed by William S. Warren and first introduced in 1941. This features scrolling foliate shoulders, simple unadorned flaring stems, and ornate handles of openwork beaded c-scrolls, twisting acanthus leaves, and rocaille tips. The collection includes eight dinner knives with stainless steel blades, sixteen tea and dessert spoons, eight dinner spoons, eight dinner forks, twelve salad forks, and four butter knives with stainless steel blades. Each piece is engraved with ‘Wallace Sterling’ with the maker’s mark of a stag’s head. The set is presented in a zippered, faux alligator storage box with dark brown silver cloth and internal compartmentalized organization. The total approximate weight is 66.84 ozt. excluding the knives with stainless blades.
