Antique 19th-Century Original Oil Landscape Painting after Corot

An antique mid 19th-century original Barbizon school oil painting on canvas mounted to a composite board substrate, painted in the manner of plein air painter Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (France, 1796 – 1875). The image depicts a plein air landscape of a dirt path flanked by woodland trees with small patches of sunlight scattered throughout. The painting appears to have been signed by the artist to the lower left, but is illegible. Mounted behind a light brown linen liner in a beveled wood frame with a gilt carved interior edge and a hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- accretion on painting surface. Discoloration to pigments, consistent with age. Linen liner is stained notably throughout. Finish of frame is worn.
