Item Details
Lovely 19th century original oil on stretched canvas, signed L. Otis and dated 1877 in the lower right corner. The painting illustrates a lush Connecticut Valley landscape dotted with cows grazing in the foreground and a very unusual tree in the center of the composition. A serene lake, sailboats on the horizon and the hazy blue sky gives one the feeling of a lazy summer afternoon. The painting enjoys gold carved gesso over wood frame and the frame appears to be of the same vintage as the painting.
Condition
There is some crazing to the painting. The frame has several small nicks and missing trim but does not detract from the overall appearance.

Image measures 16,5" high x 25.5" wide. Framed piece is 23" high x 32" wide
