Attributed Louis Bosworth Hurt "Ash Trees In A Landscape"

A framed oil on board painting titled Ash Trees In The Landscape, attributed to Louis Bosworth Hurt. The painting depicts ash trees in what appears to be autumn as the leaves lay on the ground giving a red and orange hue to the ground. The trees are accented by green grass and trees rest within the background. The painting is dated June 11th, 1874. Louis Bosworth Hurt (1856-1929) was born in Ashborne, Derbyshire in England. Hurt is known for his landscapes depicting the Scottish Highlands and cattle. Hurt would reside in Ivonbrook with his wife Harriet. He would exhibit in the Royal Academy in 1881. He would pass away in 1929. The oil on board is housed in a traditional gold tone frame with accenting floral motif and acanthus leaves at the corners. An interior border has a foliage design adding visual interest.

Condition

The plaster frame shows sections that are no longer present, and wear consistent with age and use.
