A resin sculpture by A.Santini after Canova’s ‘Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix’. This miniature piece is a replica of an 1806 work by the Italian Neo-Classical sculptor Antonio Canova. It depicts Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, reclining semi-nude on a chaise lounge. The face is modeled after Pauline Bonaparte, whose husband Camillo Borghese commissioned Canova’s original piece. This miniature is signed ‘A.Santini’ along the back of the piece.
