William Henry Chandler Original Landscape Pastel
Item Details
An original pastel landscape drawing by listed American artist William Henry Chandler (1854-1928). This piece depicts an open landscape with a stream of water seamlessly dissecting the scene. The sky suggests the end of a storm, a brilliant mix of dark blue and grey clouds mixed with white accents from the setting sun bouncing off of the clouds. It is signed to the lower right. Presented behind glass in an ornate gilt frame with wooden interior frame and black matting and a wire to the verso. Chandler worked in New Jersey from 1887 and later established the William Henry Chandler Company in New York City which employed about twenty different employees who all created pastel works comparable to the style of the Hudson River School.
