A collection of Japanese coins. This twelve piece assemblage includes a 5 sen coin minted between 1897-1905 with a copper and nickel composition; a 5 sen coin minted between 1917-1920; a 5 yen coin minted between 1949-1958, 65% copper, 35% zinc, 3.75g, 22 mm diameter, with rice, water and a gear on the obverse and tree sprouts with ‘old-script’ Japanese characters on the reverse. Also included are several WWII era coins, including 1 yen coin, 100% aluminum; 5 sen coin, minted between 1940-1943; 100 yen coin from 1943, 75% copper, 25% nickel, ‘100’ to obverse, sakura blossoms on reverse.
