Caroline Williams Original Ink Drawing of the Immaculata Church
Item Details
An original ink drawing by beloved Cincinnati-based artist Caroline Williams (1908-1988) of Immaculata Church, in Mt. Adams, Cincinnati. Williams began working for the Cincinnati Enquirer in 1932, and quickly began a weekly piece titled A Spot In Cincinnati. Each week, Williams would sketch a secret spot or immaculate view she’d seen, giving readers something to discover, along with Williams. This stunning drawing captures a side view of a Gothic Roman Catholic Church, perched high atop the hillside as it gazes across the landscape. Signed in ink to lower right, this work is mounted beneath two layers of coordinated green mats and is presented behind glass in a simple, silver frame. Hanging wire present to verso, as well as newspaper clippings of Williams’ obituary as well as a write up about the artist.
Condition
