Pair of Framed Tutankhamun Egyptian Papyrus Paintings

Item Details

A pair of framed Egyptian tourist papyrus paintings. These paintings depict objects discovered in King Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922, by Archaeologist Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon. The first is a depiction of his gold and inlay funerary mask. The artist has added Tut’s cartouches, bearing his royal names to the upper left. This is signed by the artist ‘Samy’ in the bottom left. The second painting is a scene from the backrest of his throne. This depiction shows King Tutankhamun with his sister-wife Ankhesenamun. The royal cartouches and artist’s signature are present on this piece as well. King Tutankhamun was born the son of the notorious 18th century heretic King Akhnaten. His rule was short, ending with his death at the age of 18. Thus, officially ending the long reigning 18th dynasty. Tut’s fame isn’t for his reputation as a King, but for being the only tomb of a Pharaoh that has been found intact.
