A large hand-knotted Heriz Serapi wool area rug. This rug features a large center medallion surrounded by ornate corner spandrels and large sickle leaf design, in traditional tones of carmine red, grey blue, teal, ruby, ivory, taupe and salmon. It has a wide, unresolved principal border featuring a turtle pattern in alternating, complementary colors and rosettes with colorful lancet leaves, and compound floral guard borders. It has a natural, wool warp fringe to either end; unmarked.
