An oil on canvas after James Tissot’s Last Evening signed by D. Stanley. This large scale painting honors Tissot’s original work from 1873 and depicts a young woman on a ship possibly in the presence of her father and a young suitor. Tissot’s intent here is deliberately ambiguous. The work is mounted in a wood accented with carved relief. The work is signed to the lower left by D. Stanley.
