Hugh Ricks Limited Edition 1991 Mardi Gras Serigraph - WVXU

An original 1991 limited edition serigraph by well-known 20th century New Orleans, Louisiana-based commercial artist Hugh Ricks (1939 – 2005), titled Mardi Gras. The piece depicts three stylize cartoon-like characters dressed in bright costumes to celebrate the flashy holiday. Metallic gold tone outlines delineate their forms, which are made with vibrant, matte areas of color. The title is printed across the top of the image, and the words ‘New Orleans・1991’ is printed to its base. The artist’s signature is printed in-plate to the lower right. A blind stamp from the publishing company ProCreations is embossed to the lower right, where the piece is also numbered 990/5000. The piece is double-matted in gold and forest green with decorative cutting and is presented behind glass in a composite frame with black finish and a hanging wire.
