Item Details
An original soft ground aquatint etching with a la poupée coloring on paper by well-listed Czech printer Tavik Frantisek (T.F.) Šimon (1877-1942). Simon is known for renderings of Prague, New York and Paris city scenes. This print depicts a woman standing behind a table in a stone alleyway feeding soup to the homeless. The print is signed in pencil to the lower right. The artist’s initialed stamp is printed to the lower left, where the piece is also numbered ‘72.’ in pencil. The print is matted in white with a pair of French lines and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with gold tone finish and a hanging wire. Condition
- to fair. Water damage to lower left edge of matting, and it is unclear whether this has affected print. Accretion to upper edge of matting. Paper is slightly warped.
