Early to Mid Showa Period Ladies Kimono in Black Chirimen Silk with Mimosa Flowers, Butterflies and Tree Peonies
Item Details
An elegant early to mid-Showa (1926-1989) period Japanese kimono in chirimen silk illustrating mimosa flowers, butterflies and tree peonies in lilac and apricot on a black field. The long sleeves indicate the kimono was created for an unmarried woman, geisha, or maiko (apprentice to geisha) and the red silk lining is original to the kimono as evidenced by the same flowers at the hem.
Condition
There are a few very slight spots at the hem, barely noticeable. The kimono has been properly stored folded in tissue in a rice paper sleeve.
Dimensions
The width measurement includes the sleeves outstretched. The shoulder to shoulder measurement is approximately 24" and the sleeve length is 41".
