A Chinese print after the famous Song dynasty handscroll Night Revels of Han Xizai (韩熙载夜宴图). The original painting was originally painted by Gu Hongzhong (顧閎中, 937-975) and depicts the minister Han Xizai enjoying leisure activities. The original painting no longer exists, but a later 12th-century copy preserves Gu’s original design. This version is housed in the Palace Museum in Beijing. A small section of the original painting is reproduced in this print depicting a figure playing a large red drum and another playing castanets. The piece is marked with two red seals in the lower left. The item is presented in a double mat, under glass, and framed; hanging hardware and a gallery decal to the verso.
